Email Tracking.........................

One of most the frequently asked question is how to track an email back to the sender.That is how to determine the sender of the email? The most obvious answer is by looking at the “From:” line! But this way of tracking does not work all the time since most of the spammers forge the email address or most of the spam that we get has a forged email address.This is also known as a spoofed email.Is it possible to send email from other’s address?Yes it is possible to send email from anyone’s name.Why not, you can send an email even from Bill Gate’s Email ID.If you need a proof look refer the post Send Spam Email To Friends

For more information on how to send a spoofed email refer the following post (link).

How To Send Fake Emails

OK now let’s come back to the topic of email tracking.So how do you determine where a message actually came from?Inorder to track an email we have to understand how email messages are put together in order to backtrack an email message. SMTP is a text based protocol for transferring messages across the internet. A series of headers are placed in front of the data portion of the message. By examining the headers you can usually backtrack an email to the source network, sometimes the source host.

If you are using Outlook or Outlook Express you can view the headers by right clicking on the message and selecting properties or options.

Below are listed the headers of an actual spam message.I have double spaced the headers to make them more readable.

According to the From header this message is from Maricela Paulson at s359dyxxt@yahoo.com. I could just fire off a message to abuse@yahoo.com, but that would be waste of time.

This message didn’t come from yahoo’s email service.
The header most likely to be useful in tracking the actual source of an email message is the Received header. According to the top-most Received header this message was received from the host 12-218-172-108.client.mchsi.com with the ip address of 21.218.172.108 by my server mailhost.example.com. An important item to consider in tracking is at what point in the chain does the email system become untrusted? I consider anything beyond my own email server to be an unreliable source of information. Because this header was generated by my email server it is reasonable for me to accept it at face value.

The next Received header (which is chronologically the first) shows the remote email server accepting the message from the host 0udjou with the ip 193.12.169.0. Those of you who know anything about IP will realize that that is not a valid host IP address. In addition, any hostname that ends in client.mchsi.com is unlikely to be an authorized email server. This has every sign of being a cracked client system.
Here’s is where we start digging. By default Windows is somewhat lacking in network diagnostic tools; however, you can use the tools at to do your own checking.
sriki@nqh9k:[/home/sriki] $whois 12.218.172.108 AT&T WorldNet Services ATT (NET-12-0-0-0-1)12.0.0.0 - 12.255.255.255Mediacom Communications Corp MEDIACOMCC-12-218-168-0-FLANDREAU-MN (NET-12-218-168-0-1)12.218.168.0 - 12.218.175.255
# ARIN WHOIS database, last updated 2003-12-31 19:15# Enter ? for additional hints on searching ARIN’s WHOIS database.
I can also verify the hostname of the remote server by using nslookup, although in this particular instance, my email server has already provided both the IP address and the hostname.
sriki@nqh9k:[/home/sriki] $nslookup 12.218.172.108
Server: localhostAddress: 127.0.0.1
Name: 12-218-172-108.client.mchsi.comAddress: 12.218.172.108
Ok, whois shows that Mediacom Communications owns that netblock and nslookup confirms the address to hostname mapping of the remote server,12-218-172-108.client.mchsi.com. If I preface a www in front of the domain name portion and plug that into my web browser, http://www.mchsi.com/, I get Mediacom’s web site.
There are few things more embarrassing to me than firing off an angry message to someone who is supposedly responsible for a problem, and being wrong. By double checking who owns the remote host’s IP address using two different tools (whois and nslookup) I minimize the chance of making myself look like an idiot.
A quick glance at the web site and it appears they are an ISP. Now if I copy the entire message including the headers into a new email message and send it to abuse@mchsi.com with a short message explaining the situation, they may do something about it.

But what about Maricela Paulson? There really is no way to determine who sent a message, the best you can hope for is to find out what host sent it. Even in the case of a PGP signed messages there is no guarantee that one particular person actually pressed the send button. Obviously determining who the actual sender of an email message is much more involved than reading the From header. Hopefully this example may be of some use to other forum regulars.

आपने सिस्टम के किसी HARD DRIVE (D,E,F,G) को छुपाना देखिये बिना किसी सॉफ्टवेर के मदत से ........ .....................

.

when double clicked on this drive an error message will open saying it is inaccessible .This is an alternate to hiding a drive and making it inaccisible. Here's how u do that :

Go to the registry editor and navigate to the following place :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
In the right hand pane for the Explorer key, create a new "DWORD" value named ViewNoDrive

Double click the new value and enter it as .......
for hiding A drive set value as 1 , for B its 2 and C its 4 and so on and for Z its 33554432
generally multiply it by 2 for the next alphabet to hide.
Once done, reboot or log off and login in again. Then try double clicking the drive you made inaccessible.
You should receive a message stating that the drive cannot be accessed

Hide the drives(c:,d:,e:,a:...etc) in My Computer
This is a great trick you can play on your friends. To disable the display of local or networked drives when you click My Computer.

1.Go to start->run.Type regedit.Now go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Now in the right pane create a new DWORD item and name it NoDrives(it is case sensitive). Now modify it's value and set it to 3FFFFFF (Hexadecimal) .Now restart your computer. So, now when you click on My Computer, no drives will be shown(all gone...). To enable display of drives in My Computer, simply delete this DWORD item that you created.Again restart your computer.You can now see all the drives again.

How To Remove NTDETEC1.exe Virus

Symptoms:
1. Task Manager closes as soon as it launches.
2. RegEdit may be inaccesible
3. Folder Options may be inaccessible

When I scanned using some anti-virus software, Nod32, Symantec
AV Corporate, McAfee and AVG failed to detect the files, even in Safe Mode.

If you’re using the Operating System called Windows, chances are that you might have already come across the ntdetec1.exe virus. Or you will, sooner or later.

Its official name is W32.Ceted and it is a worm that copies itself to all shared and removable drives and spreads when the user double clicks on it to open it. If a system is infected, it creates a folder called ntdetec1 in your System Drive which is NOT visible via Explorer or Command prompt.

~~~To remove it, run the following commands at the command prompt:
taskkill /im cmrss.exe
taskkill /im ntdetec1.exe
taskkill /im shell32.exe
Now, make sure you are in the root drive of your system. For example, if your Windows in installed in C:, make sure your prompt shows C:\>
Now, run the command..
attrib ntdetec1 -s -h -r /s /d
(s->system,h->hidden,r->read only)
This will make the folder visible in explorer. Now you can Shift+Delete the folder from explorer.
Also, you might need to delete the following registry key (if it is present)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\ Run\"winlogon" = "C:\ntdetec1\run.exe"
Congratulations, this will remove all known traces of the above worm.
Disable 'Send/Dont send error report' in windows
Got annoyed by the Send/Dont send report window on windows when any application doesnt functioned properly..!!! Check out the following steps to disable the Send/Dont send report window.
- Right-click the My Computer icon and choose Properties.
- In the System Properties window that appears, go to the Advanced tab and click Error Reporting.
- There you can Disable error reporting. This will make any crashing program's window simply close itself.
- You could also click But Notify Me When Critical Errors Occur, but it might be even safer (and less confusing down the road) if you select Enable Error Reporting and Choose Programs to exclude only your commonly crashing program.
आपने सिस्टम पर WINDOWS 7 और WINDOWS VISTA  और WINDOWS XP एक साथ चलाओ ................
If you're dying to try out Windows 7 but aren't ready to give up your installation of XP or Vista, let's take a look at how to dual boot Windows 7 with XP or Vista.
Step 0: Download the Windows 7 Beta and Burn It to a DVD
Assuming you've already downloaded a fresh copy of Windows 7, you'll need to burn it to a DVD in order to do a fresh installation. To handle this task, grab a copy of the most popular CD and DVD burning tool ImgBurn, burn the ISO to a DVD, and move right along to step 1.
Step 1: Partition Your Hard Drive
Before you go installing Windows 7, the first thing you need to do is create a new partition on your hard drive to hold the new installation of Windows. Partitioning your hard drive will vary depending on whether you're running XP or Vista—namely because Vista has a partition tool baked in, XP does not.
Partition Your Hard Drive in XP
To partition your hard drive in Windows XP, you'll need to download some sort of third-party partitioning software. There are a lot of options available, but I prefer to stick with the previously mentioned GParted live CD, a free, open source boot CD that can handle all kinds of partitioning duties.
To use it, just download the GParted Live CD, burn it to a CD, then reboot your computer (booting from the disc). You'll boot right into the partitioning tool. HowtoForge's previous guide to modifying partitions with GParted is a great place to start, but it's a fairly basic procedure:
Resize your current OS drive to free up enough space for a Windows 7 partition (the minimum system requirements ask for 16GB).
Create a new partition from the newly freed space.
Apply your changes.
Partition Your Hard Drive in Vista
The folks at Redmond were kind enough to include a disk partitioning tool in Vista if you know where to look. So go to Control Panel -> System and Maintainence (skip this one if you're in Classic view) -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management. Once you launch the Computer Management tool, click on Disk Management under the Storage heading in the sidebar. It's partitioning time.
Luckily we've already gone down this road before in step-by-step detail, complete with pictures,In a nutshell, you'll need to shrink your current OS partition to free up at least 16GB of disk space then create a "New Simple Volume" from the free space.
Step 2: Install Windows 7
Now that you've done all the heavy lifting, it's time for the easy part: Installing Windows 7 on your new partition. So insert your Windows 7 disc and reboot your computer (you'll need to have enabled booting from your DVD drive in your system BIOS, but most PCs will have this enabled by default).
Once the DVD boots up it's a simple matter of following along with the fairly simple installation wizard. When you're choosing installation type, be sure to select Custom (advanced) and choose the partition you set up above. (Be careful here. Choosing the wrong partition could mean wiping your other Windows installation altogether, so make sure you pick the new partition you just created.)
After you select the partition, go grab yourself a drink and let the installer do its work. Windows will run through some installation bits, restart a few times in the process. Eventually you'll be prompted to set up your account, enter your license key, and set up Windows. Keep your eyes open for fun new Windows 7 features, like your new homegroup (and the accompanying password). When it's finished, you're up and rolling with your new Windows 7 installation.
Congratulations! You should now have a new entry for Windows 7 on your boot screen when you first start up your computer. You've now got all the tools necessary to dual-boot Windows 7 and XP or Vista—or even to triple-boot Windows 7, Vista, and XP.
